17 killed, more than 160 injured in spate of attacks across Iraq

Tuz Khurmatu :(Agency)-In Iraq, 17 persons were killed while more than 160 have been injured in a spate of attacks across the country. The deadliest attack took place in the oil rich Kirkuk province where a suicide bomber blew up a car killing at least 10 people and wounding 140 others. Two persons were killed and 26 others were injured in another suicide car bombing in the town of Tuz Khurmatu while three separate attacks in Baghdad left five people dead. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks. The security agencies have blamed the Al-Qaeda's front group in Iraq for these attacks saying the militant outfit has been responsible for a series of such attacks in Iraq in the past to undermine the authority of Prime Minister Maliki led Shiite majority Government. The latest attacks come a day after the killing of a Sunni Iraqi MP Ayfan al-Essawi's in a suicide attack west of Baghdad. The authorities have beefed up security in the wake of the slain MP’s funeral expected to be held in Fallujah later today.
