United Nations, March 29 (IANS) UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Friday said that he is "deeply disappointed" at the failure of the final UN conference to adopt a treaty by consensus which would help regulate the multi-billion-dollar international arms trade.

"The treaty had been within reach, thanks to the tireless work and spirit of compromise among member states," reported Xinhua.
Ban voiced his deep disappointment after Iran, North Korea and Syria blocked the adoption of the treaty, which required agreement by all 193 UN member states.
