Dehradun:(Page3 News Network)-Several important decisions were taken in the Cabinet Meeting held on Tuesday regarding sugar mills, mining, industry, eco-task force and transport.
Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain, briefing the media after the Cabinet Meeting said that the decision has been taken to convert the loan and interest owed by sugar mills to the State government into share capital. The amount stands at about Rs. 718 crore. The Cabinet also approved in principal the generation of power through by- products of Bajpur and Kichha Sugar mills. As per the proposal 12 MW power would be generated by each mill. The Cabinet also gave a nod to increase royalty in mining from existing Rs. 45 to Rs. 90 per cubic metre. The revenue generated from mining in the last financial year was Rs. 120 crore. It is expected to increase to Rs. 200 crore.
Mr. Jain said that the Cabinet also gave approval for Logistic Hub of Concore at Pantnagar. SIDCUL will receive Rs. 1.47 crore as license fee and reduce the transportation expenditure. He said that this would attract the investors in the State. He said that presently four Eco-task forces were functioning and looking into the fund crunch to run then, the decision was taken to arrange fund to run these Task forces in the future also. Four categories had been chalked out for government transport expenditure limit. This included Cabinet Minister, Justice, DGP and other equivalents (Rs. 12 lakh), Principal Secretary and equivalent officers (Rs. 8 lakh), Additional Secretary, District Magistrate and equivalents (Rs. 8 lakh) and Departmental officers (Rs. 6 lakh). Priority would be given to reimbursement and outsourcing. Looking into the shortage of Radiology and Anesthesia Specialists, the cabinet also approved hike in the salary structure of professor, associate professor of Srinagar Medical College, Mr. Jain disclosed.
