Kalam's message for voters

After roping in film stars and social activists for its public outreach programme, the Election Commission officers in Odisha are banking on a message of former President Abdul Kalam to improve voter turnout in the twin elections.

The office of chief electoral officer has uploaded Kalam's letter on its official website (www.ceoorissa.nic.in).

In the letter, Kalam said the students expressed their unwillingness to cast votes. When students asked him whether they should vote, Kalam replied: "Your right to vote is precious and exercise of the franchise is very essential as you have got a great opportunity to select right person to represent you in parliament and assembly."
