GPRS Enabled Electronic Cash Transactions at Hyderabad Airport

Cash transactions for collection of airport charges from non-scheduled operators at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad have become history with the commissioning of GPRS enabled EDC terminal at the airport. Shri G. Asok Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, launched the facility today in Hyderabad as a part of the ongoing `India Avaition-2014’.

The salient features of the facility include a multi-currency handler and identification of fake currency. Non-scheduled operators can now enjoy a credit of 45 days on payment through credit cards. Till now, they were remitting through cash transactions. The facility will work on Real Time basis demanding less of manpower. A similar facility was launched in September last year at Juhu Airport and now almost all airports managed by Airports Authority of India (AAI) have this facility.
